The Idea

Transcripts

Talk with a partner about what you know of the story War Horse. Use these questions as a prompt.

Distributors of films create marketing campaigns in order to raise awareness of the film in people’s minds. This campaign can consist of posters and film trailers, as well as features and articles in newspapers and magazines.

In particular, trailers and posters will give an audience a preview of what the film is about – a sense of its story, who is in it, what genre the film is.

All of these different ways of promoting the film must, however, give the same idea of the film – they have to give the same messages, the same sense of what the film will be about.

Now watch these interviews with Michael Morpurgo and Ali Bannister. As you watch, try to identify three key points made in the interviews about the relationship between fact and fiction in War Horse.
