Trailer

Watch the trailer two or three times, then talk about it using these questions to help you:

  • What type of music can you hear at the beginning of the trailer?
  • What instruments can you hear?
  • What mood does the music create?
  • Why start the trailer with this soundtrack? How would it be different if the music was fast and upbeat.
  • What is the first image that we see?
  • Why do you think the film starts with this shot?
  • What can you tell about the boy?
  • Where is the film set? How can you tell?
  • Why is there a voice over?
  • How would it be different if there weren’t a voiceover?
  • How does the music change as the trailer progresses?
  • Why are we told that the film is based on a true story?
  • Does knowing this change how you feel about the film?
  • The film has sad and funny bits in it – describe the funny bits of the film from what you have seen in the trailer.

 

Activity

Watch the trailer again and work in pairs to summarise the story in no more than 50 words. Read your summaries out to each other. Decide on the most effective summary. What key information was it necessary to keep in your summary? What did you leave out? Why?

In this changing world, it's harder than ever to find something extraordinary. But every once in a while, a symbol of hope breaks through.
