Community
Communities can be groups of people who share the same religious beliefs, the same interests or who simply live in the same area. Communities can even exist online: for example, groups on social networking sites. In the film, the contestants are all from different countries yet when they come together for the competition, you could say they form a community.
Watch this clip from the film showing Mariam in her home town, then discuss the following questions:
- How would you describe Mariam’s home town based on this clip?
- What impressions do you get of her local community?
