An Exercise in Creative Writing
Of course not everything about the skin is prettily poetic. Skin can be a story of oiliness and open pores; of sweaty excretion and bacteria. It seems a square inch of skin – depending on where it is on the body - may contain over 50 million bacteria – resistant to even the most thorough washing. That’s perfectly normal as is the fact the outermost layer of the epidermis may consist of 25-30 layers of dead skin. About three-quarters of the dust in your room or home is dead skin cells – hardly surprising when you think the average person loses some nine grams of skin cells a day. It may seem disgusting, but these are the properties of perfectly healthy skin and deserve a place in any description you write.
