What subject areas is Picturacy for Young Learners appropriate for?
Picturacy for Young Learners is designed to help teach visual literacy and has been developed for use within the Primary Framework for Literacy. It focuses on topic areas of Character, Colour, Music and Sound, Narrative, Settings and Camera, although the resource is also helpful for promoting cross-curricular links to ICT, Art, Music and more. What age is Picturacy for Young Learners suitable for?
Picturacy for Young Learners is most suitable for use with Key Stage 1, or Early Years pupils (aged 5–7). However, the activities and software are flexible enough to allow for teachers to use with Foundation stage or Key Stage 2 pupils. Back to top

The resource pack is available to teachers for just £50, plus P&P.

Can I try the resource before buying it?
There is a Picturacy demo available on the website. You have the opportunity to try out a demo selection of material and functions before you buy the resource. Back to top
Can I use it over a network?
Picturacy for Young Learners can be installed and used over a school network in a similar way to most other software. You may need to speak to your IT administrator to set up Picturacy over a network. Back to top

What is included in the resource pack?
Each copy of Picturacy for Young Learners contains:
- a wide range of material from popular feature films such as Pooh’s Heffalump Movie, Robots, Bee Movie, Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, Heidi, Chicken Little, The Magic Roundabout and Madagascar
- an easy-to-use software package with interactive functions especially designed for teachers and pupils aged 5–7
- specialist topic areas exploring Character, Colour, Music and Sound, Narrative, Settings and Camera
- comprehensive Teachers’ Notes containing activities, lesson plans, recommendations and links to the Primary National Strategy
- a site license so that each copy can be networked across the whole school at no extra cost

Are there other Picturacy resources available?

Can Picturacy for Young Learners be used on an Interactive Whiteboard?
The resource is perfect for use on an Interactive Whiteboard, or can be used on standalone computers, or on computers across a school network. Back to top
Can other media be imported into Picturacy?
Yes, photographs or still images can be imported into Picturacy from another drive on your computer. You can also attach a digital camera or web cam to Picturacy to take photographs whilst using the software. It is not possible to import videos or music files. Back to top
