Hundreds of workers descend underground to the Worker's City.
Fast paced dramatic montage of the worker's city and the conditions of the workers.
(MUSIC SLOWS)
Maria enters the Eternal Gardens with the children of the city, where she meets Freder.
(DRAMATIC FAST-PACED MUSIC)
Freder witnesses Heart Machine accident and imagines worker's sacrifice.
Maria is pursued and captured by Rotwang in the catacombs.
Rotwang creates a robot in Maria's image.
The workers of the underground city hail Maria as their new saviour.
Maria's dance entrances the rich men of Metropolis.
A flood destroys the underground city and the Heart Machine explodes causing death and destruction.
