The press

One of the filmic devices used in Chariots of Fire to give us information about the development of the story is to use the front pages of newspapers to update us of the progress of Abrahams and Liddell in the build up to the Paris Olympics in 1924.

In 2012 the media – television, the press, the Internet – will give us information not only in the build up to the Games but also during the Games themselves. And just as in 1924, the media will focus on certain individuals, members of team GB – following their progress leading up to and in their Olympic event.

Activity

Choose one member of Team GB – a cyclist, a runner, a swimmer – the choice is yours. Your task is to collect as many press clippings, Internet reports etc. as you can about your chosen Olympian.
