Thank you

Thank you

We would like to say a big thank you to all of the thousands of teachers that have worked with us to enable young people across the UK to benefit from a wide variety of film education activity.

Film Education is proud of the part it has played over the last 26 years in developing an understanding of the importance of learning through and about film that enabled millions of young people engage with film and the cinema experience.

Whilst recognising the work of organisations such as Film Education, Lord Smith’s Independent Review of British Film in 2012 recommended the BFI co-ordinate a new unified offer for film education, bringing together watching, understanding and making. The recent announcement of National Lottery funding of £26 million to Film Nation UK will provide a single publicly funded education programme combining watching, understanding and making film.

We understand plans are currently being developed which include both curriculum resources and a nationwide series of film screenings which - though different to National Schools Film Week - will all work to help instill in the next generation a passion for watching films in the cinema. Once we have more information on this new offer we will update our information accordingly.

Once again we would like to thank Cinema First and all the film distributors, exhibitors, filmmakers, creative talent and industry executives, as well as teaching professionals and students, for their support and hope that they will continue their commitment to this vital area of education through film.
